Frequently Asked Questions

What is the latest Graveyard Keeper 2 update?

Update 1.009, released October 6, 2026. It is a stability pass: fixes for crashes when loading saves, zombie workers getting stuck after carrying output at the sawmill, mine, clay and sand pits, gardener zombies failing on harvested crops, and fishing bait now being found in bags.

Why can't I see my pre-order bonus in Graveyard Keeper 2?

A launch-day hotfix (September 22) resolved pre-order content not appearing in some existing save files, and Update 1.009 fixed a related bug where the pre-order sauna buff permanently reduced food energy recovery after it ended — existing saves were corrected too. The sauna still requires repairing a bridge first, and the outfit needs the Suit Up! technology and a Dresser.

Do demo saves still transfer to the full game?

On PC, yes — demo saves carry over automatically (and Update 1.006 made demo-era achievements retroactive). On Nintendo Switch, demo progress does not transfer; a new game is required. That is an official known issue, not a bug you can fix.

Is Graveyard Keeper 2 still getting updates?

Yes — six patches landed in the first two weeks after launch, all stabilization and quality-of-life work. The studio has also posted future plans and acknowledged that some loops feel too routine, signaling larger systems work ahead. We update this page as each new announcement drops.

  • Zombies and stations: fixed workers stuck after carrying output at the sawmill, mine, clay and sand pits; fixed gardener zombies stuck on unharvested crops; you can now pick up or inspect a manager zombie from its station while it works away from home.
  • Perks and progression: fixed the Son of a Butcher perk so its bonus applies to organ surgery and pocket picking; fixed the pre-order sauna permanently reducing food energy recovery after its buff ended (existing saves corrected); the second-tier kitchen oven no longer appears in the tech tree before the first oven is repaired.
  • Items: fishing bait stored in bags is now found while fishing.
  • UI: fixed the HUD missing Chinese icons; birds (crow, woodpecker) no longer get stuck in animations.
  • Crashes and softlocks: fixed a bed crash that could throw the player out of bounds, an infinite loading screen (conveyor-related exception), persistent error pop-ups, and the Linda’s Ball / Beautiful Dream main-quest soft-lock that blocked basement progression.
  • Balance (player-friendly pass): deliveries require fewer crates and earn more Likes; trading with vendors earns more Likes; winning battles earns more Town Gratitude; the Happy Supplier perk got a bigger bonus.
  • Combat: Fast Travel Points can no longer be used during battle.
  • Quality of life: fixed the Inflation quest error that left a garden plot locked, the Sommelier perk (now correctly boosts wine crafting), the PR machine duration, and items “teleporting” into the inventory from a distance.
  • Fixed several repeated crash paths, item duplication exploits, and saving-related FPS drops.
  • Fixed stuck progression, plus several workstation and quest issues.
  • Added an in-game bug-report function to the Steam PC build.
  • Demo-save achievements are now awarded retroactively in the full game.
  • Fixed kitchen zombies consuming ingredients without producing output.
  • Added extra bag slots for pickups and purchases; fixed stuck crop beds and destructible Defender’s Emblems.
  • Stations and morgue: fixed a Study Table that could lock after inserting Science, a corpse getting stuck in the Crematorium, and zombies failing to resurrect despite meeting requirements.
  • Building and Town zones: restored the ability to demolish buildings in the resurrection zone.
  • Balance: sawing now yields more logs; Kiln/Furnace crafting and fuel costs were rebalanced — older launch-day figures may no longer match.

Known issues (official list, October 2026)

Section titled “Known issues (official list, October 2026)”
  • Nintendo Switch: demo progress does not transfer to the full game — start a new game.
  • Consoles: screen tearing; a fix has been in progress since launch.
  • Full-chest transfers: moving an item into a chest where only part of the stack fits can delete the excess. Split the stack first.
  • Long sessions: performance drops after several hours without saving. Save often (rest in bed) and relaunch the game every few hours during extended play.
  • The 999 research-point display cap is intentional, not a bug.
