Graveyard Keeper 2 Money Guide — Best Ways to Make Money

“Where does the money come from?” is the question that made Graveyard Keeper 1 a guide-site staple, and GK2’s Steam page doubles down on it: turn the zombie problem into a thriving business. This page ranks the profit routes by effort-to-return, based on the series’ established economy — with every sequel-specific number replaced by verified in-game data during launch week.

GK1’s economy taught three lessons that almost certainly carry into the sequel:

  1. Passive beats active. Any income that keeps flowing while you do something else (crops growing, workstations churning) eventually outearns hand-crafted profit.
  2. Quality is a multiplier. Low-tier versions of every product are barely profitable; the same recipe at high quality multiplies its value.
  3. The corpse is the supply chain. Every valuable product chain in the series starts with the resource that literally walks (well, is carried) in the door.
  • Basic burials. Not glamorous, but the quest chain pays and teaches the mechanics you need for everything better.
  • Quest rewards. GK1’s story quests were the best hour-for-hour income in the early game. Follow the main chain aggressively before you branch out.
  • First farm plots. Crops are slow but nearly free. Plant early so the harvest exists when you need it.
  • Corpse processing for profit. The series’ signature route: extract valuables from corpses before burial. In GK1 this meant processing organs and parts for sale and crafting — expect GK2’s version to be at least as lucrative given the sequel’s production emphasis.
  • Crafting for the church and town. Candles, incense and restoration materials feed both progression and wallets. The sequel’s Restore The Town feature likely creates sustained demand — watch this space, it may become the new best money route.
  • Undead workforce production lines. The headline feature of GK2: automate production with zombie labor. In GK1, zombie-driven throughput was how late-game money became effectively infinite. In GK2 this is positioned as a core pillar, not a side system — our expectation is that the best money route in the game will be a well-fed undead production chain. Full verified layouts coming in launch week.
  • Selling raw early-game resources you’ll need in bulk later (storage is cheaper than re-buying).
  • Investing in decoration quality before processing capacity — beauty doesn’t pay rent, corpses do.
  • Ignoring energy costs when calculating profit: a “profitable” recipe that costs a full day of stamina often isn’t.
  • Skipping quest chains to grind money — the quests are the money, early on.
  • Beginner Guide — first days, first corpse, first upgrades.
  • GK2 vs GK1 — what changed in the sequel’s economy.
  • FAQ — release date, platforms, price and launch questions.
